Context
Snappy Shopper asked me to transform a short segment from The Better Retailing Podcast into a visual piece suitable for LinkedIn. The clip features retailer Sandeep discussing his experience with the platform. The objective was to turn an audio-led interview into something clean, engaging, and easily understood without sound.
Research
Clear identification of each speaker was essential. With no direct editorial contacts available, I sourced names from the podcast description and verified them through online articles and industry press.
To support the narrative, I reviewed Sandeep’s business Facebook page, collecting early posts about Snappy Shopper and the specific offers mentioned in the interview. These assets formed the contextual visuals used throughout the edit
Exploration
Stakeholders repeatedly referenced Vox as a tonal benchmark. I used this as light inspiration – primarily for pacing, typographic cues, and background treatments – while keeping the overall style aligned with Snappy Shopper’s brand.
Each speaker was isolated onto their own audio track. This allowed me to generate waveform keyframes and use them as visual cues, guiding subtle shifts in colour: portraits transitioned between greyscale and colour to indicate who was speaking.
Development
The researched imagery was layered into the timeline alongside an oversized blurred background to keep the composition active without overwhelming the content.
Soft swoop and click effects were added to smooth transitions, and brand logos were given a low-frame-rate effect, alongside a wiggle expression. Paired with the shifting background, this created a tactile, cut-out aesthetic that echoed the hands-on nature of independent retail.
Refinement
Intro and outro music, licensed through Envato Elements, bookended the piece.
Because most viewers watch LinkedIn videos muted, I used Premiere’s auto-captioning tool to generate subtitles. I then corrected the transcript and manually added speaker labels based on the audio track timings.
Outcome
The final video presents the interview in a way that feels dynamic, branded, and clear even without audio-balancing the conversational nature of a podcast with the immediacy required for LinkedIn content.
